Our team attended a strata-managed commercial property in Rosebery to investigate an ongoing water leak affecting businesses. Upon inspection, we confirmed a burst pipe beneath the building. While the leak initially stopped after new valves were installed, it later resumed, likely due to pipe movement after the valves were fitted.
Our Team:
- Used a demolition saw to cut through concrete above the water main

Jackhammered and removed the concrete

Shut off the water supply to the building and drained the system

Installed a new copper water feed starting at the right-hand-side valve, surface mounting along the external wall to the front corner of the building

Continued surface mounting along the front and left-hand side of the building

Re-entered the ground at the left-hand-side valve to reconnect to the existing line

Bedded the pipe in accordance with standards

Pressure tested the new pipework

Installed steel rebar and mesh in preparation for reinstatement

Re-concreted the driveway area

Cleaned up the site and removed all trade waste
Why was a bypass necessary?
Repairing the burst pipe directly would have caused major disruption to the businesses operating within the building. Instead, we recommended and carried out a full external bypass, running a new copper water feed around the perimeter of the building. This approach allowed us to maintain full functionality with minimal interruption to the occupants.
